How to get more leads to boost online sales

by | May 29, 2020 | Business Strategy, List Building, Sales Funnels

If you want to grow your business, you need leads – and a steady stream of them. Leads are the lifeblood of any online business, so it makes sense that you’ll want to know all of the different ways you can get more leads, especially if you’re looking to boost your online sales from those accumulated leads.

For many new online businesses though, knowing there are so many lead generation tactics can be a little overwhelming. It’s much easier to focus on a smaller list of ones that are easy to implement – so here are my top 3 recommendations.

Get more leads with email marketing

Email marketing typically delivers a higher ROI than any other marketing channel. Why? Because it enables you to build a personal relationship with your list. You can address each contact on your list by name, and use segmentation within your emailing marketing platform, to separate out clients based on their specific needs and interests. This enables you to send even more personalised content to their inbox and send them tailored offers and services.

Social media can boost lead growth

Social media enables you to build on brand awareness and engagement with your audience. So how does this help you get more leads? It gives you the ability to use your feed, to attract and engage with your ideal audience. You can share interactive polls and surveys to gain insight into their preferences, especially within Instagram. Tools such as the Facebook pixel can help you retarget those people who have already shown an interest in your products and services. You can remarket to them via targeted ads within their social media feeds, whilst sponsored ads and posts enable you to share your latest email opt-in offer with them.

Free webinars are a popular lead generation tool

Coaches in particular, find webinars a successful way to get more leads for business. The key to webinar success is to ensure your webinar offers real value to your audience and promote it before you run it. Do that, and you’ll have a steady stream of new leads. Look to pick a topic that your potential audience will be interested in and essentially have a conversation around that subject, where you give tips and advice to help them move forward in some way. Anyone who signs up to the webinar can be added to your lead list (as long as you collect their details in a GDPR compliant way!), so you can follow up with them after the webinar.

Host a challenge to grow your list

3, 5 or 7 day challenges are a great way to get an influx of leads, based on a specific interest. They’re perfect for leading into a product launch, or for testing the reaction to new products and services. If you want to increase your challenge sign-up rate, look to offer a prize at the end of the challenge. This can be a free strategy call with you, a discounted product or a physical product you send to them. As with webinars, if you want your challenge to do really well, you need to both promote it and ensure you’re giving them real value during your challenge – no matter how long or short it is.

SEO for more leads

Search engines like Google and Pinterest are key ways to use SEO for generating more leads for your business. You’re essentially using the keywords and phrases your potential clients type into those search engines, within your website and content, to drive traffic back to your website. Once there, they can then interact with your content and sign up for your free opt-in – and adding them to your email list of leads. Whereas search engines like Google produce mainly text-based link results for your site, for Pinterest need you to create a visual ‘pin’ – an appealing graphic that viewers click on, to be taken to your most popular blog posts, free content, sales pages and products.
